Official Cuauhtemoc Blanco Mexico Home Garcis Jersey From The 1999 Confederations Cup Final Against Brazil!
Mexico ended up beating Brazil 1 - 0 in the Estadio Azteca and lifting their first and only Confederations Cup Trophy.
The original 1999 home jersey featured a massive Mexican coat of arms emblazoned across the abdomen. Although approved by FIFA and the Mexican Football Federation, it was almost immediately banned by the Mexican government for violating the Law on the National Shield, Flag, and Anthem, which dictates exactly how and where national symbols can be used.
The Recall: The government blocked further production and wearing it in Mexico could have led to arrest. The shirts were recalled and the coat of arms was replaced with the authorized Federation (FMF) logo.
Export Anomaly: Because a large number of the original, banned jerseys were already produced, the manufacturer (Garcis) shipped and sold them primarily in the United States.
Collector's Item: Today, the original banned jersey is a highly sought-after "holy grail" for soccer jersey collectors.
